October is finally here and if you live in Florida, soccer is but a couple of weeks away. The first day of practice is October 10. Before any practice or conditioning can happen, you must make sure that all of your players have turned in all of the necessary paper work that is required by your athletic department and the athletic association that your school belongs to. DO NOT do any kind of soccer related physical activity prior to all of the athletes being cleared to play.
I just recently had a soccer sign-up event at the high school. We usually do it in the lunch room. We just set up a table, have a big sign, and wait for the classes to come eat lunch. This way you only get the girls that are really interested to sign up. We had all the paperwork that they needed in a packet and handed one to each girl. We let them know when all of the paperwork was due and the date of the first practice.
Remember that home-schooled students and private school students (if you’re coaching at a public school), need more paperwork than normal. There’s also other deadlines that you need to be aware of.
